Advertisers FAQs

Am I able to filter newsletters by location/region/language?

Yes, Letterwell allows you to filter this way in the marketplace. When searching, go to ‘Location’ to see a list of subscriber regions to select from, as well as being able to filter from several languages.

Are my transactions protected?

Letterwell will protect any transactions made through our platform via the ‘Instant Booking’ platform. Whenever an ‘Instant Booking’ transaction is made, the funds are held and protected in escrow until both parties have satisfactorily completed their respective conditions.

For example, if an advertiser purchases an advert in a newsletter, Letterwell will not release the funds to the newsletter owner until the newsletter has been released with the advert adequately placed.

If either party feels that conditions were not met or there is any other issue regarding transactions, please contact us.

Are there any verification checks in place for the newsletters?

Yes, when newsletters apply for the Letterwell platform, they are required to provide proof of metrics, such as OR, CTR, and subscriber count.

How do I advertise with Letterwell?

There are three main ways to advertise using Letterwell. The first is to browse our selection of email newsletters through our marketplace. Once you have identified a newsletter you are interested in advertising in, you can contact them via the ‘Direct Message’ button and negotiate an ad campaign.

The second method is ‘Instant Booking,’ which newsletters can opt to enable. ‘Instant Booking’ means that the newsletter will already have a pre-defined campaign for a set price. This can be found under the ‘Book Advert’ tab. Simply add this to your cart and purchase the campaign. ‘Instant Booking’ protects your transactions as Letterwell will only release your funds to the newsletter owner once campaign conditions are met.

If you have a budget over $500 you may wish to consider using our exclusive pay-per-click advertising product called Native Ads. Please contact us to find out more.

How do I find newsletters which will be relevant to my target audience?

When browsing the marketplace, you will be able to filter the newsletters by a range of different metrics, including subscriber count, Open Rate, Click Through Rate, location, gender mix, language and others.

This will allow you to find the email newsletter which best meets your target audience.

How much does it cost to advertise in email newsletters through Letterwell?

Newsletter owners decide the cost of advertising. As an advertiser, it is free to browse our marketplace and contact newsletter owners.

However, if booking through the ‘Instant Booking’ function, a 10% platform fee is incurred.

I feel as though a Newsletter has not met the conditions of an agreed ad campaign, what should I do?

In the event that either party feels that conditions were not met or there is any other issue regarding transactions, please contact us.

Is email newsletter advertising effective?

Email newsletters are a very effective method of marketing to potential clients. Readers of email newsletters are more often highly engaged and receptive to marketing. Open Rates are often in the region of 20-30%, and returns on investment are substantially higher than social media advertisements.

Here at Letterwell, we have over 400 newsletters and a total of 95million subscribers, meaning there’s a variety of different target audiences to choose from. Our newsletters see an average open rate of 52%, with adverts seeing an average 14% Click Through Rate, well above industry averages.

What is ‘Instant Booking,’ and how does it work?

‘Instant Booking’ allows an ad campaign to be booked in a matter of minutes. No negotiations are necessary, and Letterwell will ensure that your funds are protected.

With ‘Instant Booking,’ the newsletter will already have a pre-defined campaign for a set price. You can find the price as well as book through ‘Instant Booking,’ under the ‘Book Advert’ tab. Simply click ‘Book Advert’ and then add ‘Instant Booking’ to your cart to purchase the campaign. Through ‘Instant Booking’ your transactions are protected, as Letterwell will only release your funds to newsletter owners once the conditions of the campaign have been met.

If either party feels that conditions were not met or there is any other issue regarding transactions, please contact us.

What is the difference between Open Rate (OR) and Click Through Rate (CTR)?

Industry-standard uses two metrics when assessing the success of an email marketing campaign: Open Rate (OR) and Click Through Rate (CTR). Open Rate is the percentage of subscribers that have actively opened the email newsletter and read it.

The CTR is a percentage calculated as the number of subscribers who have clicked on links through the email newsletter. For example, if a newsletter has 100 subscribers, with 60 subscribers opening the newsletter and 30 subscribers clicking on links through the newsletter, the Open Rate is 60% (60/100) while the CTR is 30% (30/100).

Industry standards show that the average email Open Rate should be between 15-25%, while the average CTR should be about 2.5%. The average click-to-open rate should be between 20-30%.
