Native Advertising FAQs

Do I need any special configurations to run Native Ads?

Native Ads are platform agnostic meaning that you can publish these ads using any Email Service Provider (ESP), such as Mailchimp, Sendgrind and more.

Details to note

  • Please ensure that newsletter@letterwell.co is included in your distribution list for all newsletters your publish with Native Ad placements
  • You will be given access to download the ad asset packs via email
  • You will be required to fill out the onboarding agreement form by email, otherwise your payouts will be paused

Top tips

  • Make sure the tracking URL matches the advert you are running
  • Ensure that you cycle the adverts – we recommend not showing the same ad more than twice a week in succession
  • You can run multiple Native Ads simultaneously, but ensure you strike a careful balance between ad placements and your newsletter content
  • You can run Native Ads alongside other paid sponsorships
  • You can choose when, where and how often you publish Native Ads, but it must be at least once a month

Other information

  • You must not try to falsely or artificially inflate the clicks received on your ads, we have software that can detect this and abuse of our system will result in a permanent ban and forfeiture of all unpaid earnings
  • We have the right to withdraw Native Ads made available to you at any point in time without prior notice needed to be given. Your earnings will be calculated up until that point
  • You must run at least one Native Ad placement per month to be considered an active user of the platform and retain access to the ad library

How can I see how much I’ve earned/spent in running Native Ads?

Weekly reports will be sent to you summarising your ad performance. You’ll soon receive access to a live tracking dashboard that will display all the metrics and tracking stats across your campaigns in real-time.

How do I get paid?

As a publisher, your earnings are calculated in real-time giving you precise insights on exactly how much you are making on your newsletters running Native Ads. We aggregate your click rate data monthly and payout on the 5th working day of the following month. For example, earnings from 1st June 25 to 30th June 25 would be paid on 6th August 25.

How do I run a Native Ad?

Once you’ve applied, you’ll receive access to your unique tracking URL, ad copy and graphics/artwork. You can immediately start populating your newsletters with these ad units and will get access to a dashboard to track your earnings and metrics (in beta). You can see an example of embedded Native Ads in our email newsletter.

How to do you prevent click spamming?

Click spamming occurs if a user repeatedly clicks a link in succession. We have software that detects this and will block those clicks from being registered.

We also maintain global IP address blacklists to ensure clicks come from genuine real users.

My application hasn’t been auto-approved

If your application is not automatically approved to run Native Ads, likely we were unable to match the details you supplied on the form to our database records. It may also mean that we need to do some background checks to ensure that your newsletter is a good fit for the Native Ads you’ve selected. You’ll hear back from us within 24 hours with a status update.

You must ensure that your newsletter is listed on our Marketplace to be eligible to run Native Ads. You can Add Your Newsletter here.

Please note, Verified (Blue Tick) newsletters in our Marketplace receive priority in running Native Ads. You can learn more about verifying your listing.

What format do Native Ads come in?

You’ll receive several types of Native Ads for each Advertiser you’re approved to run ad units for:

  1. Logo: Incorporate the brand logo however you like
  2. Small Graphic: In partnership with [Brand name] (Height: 60px)
  3. Medium Graphic: Brand logo and CTA ad copy (600px x 100px)
  4. Large Graphic: Brand logo and CTA ad copy (600px x 180px)
  5. Free Text: Ad copy free text you can integrate and style into your newsletter

What if I already have paid sponsorships?

You are welcome to run Native Ads alongside other paid sponsorships.

What is Cost-per-click (CPC) advertising?

Cost-per-click (CPC) is a paid advertising model where an advertiser pays a fixed cost to a newsletter owner for every click on their ad. This model rewards newsletters owners based on the number of subscribers that click on ad units in their email newsletters.

  1. Advertiser sets CPC price they are willing to pay at. They also upload their campaign details, goals and ad copy.
  2. Newsletters selects a Native Ad campaign to publish from one of the self-service ready-to-go adverts available to them.
  3. Click metrics are tracked uniquely across campaigns and payment is calculated on ongoing performance.

Which adverts can I run?

You can apply to run as many adverts as you wish. We don’t recommend running more than two native Ads simultaneously, however you can cycle adverts across multiple campaigns to ensure maximum exposure and wide variety for your audiences.

Please note, we take great care in ensuring that the Native Ads are only displayed on newsletters with relevant audiences, so you might not be approved to run all the ads you selected for.
